Royal Holloway, University of London, is a constituent college of the University of London, situated in Egham, Surrey, approximately 19 miles (31 km) west of central London. Founded in 1879 by the Victorian entrepreneur and philanthropist Thomas Holloway, the institution was officially opened in 1886 by Queen Victoria as a college exclusively for women. It became part of the University of London in 1900 and began admitting male postgraduate students in 1945 and undergraduates in 1965. ​

The university is renowned for its striking Founder's Building, inspired by the Château de Chambord in the Loire Valley, France. This iconic structure houses a chapel, dining hall, and a picture gallery, contributing to the campus's reputation as one of the most beautiful in the UK. ​

Academically, Royal Holloway is organized into three faculties:​

  1. Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences: Encompassing departments such as English, History, Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and Music.​
  2. Faculty of Management, Economics & Law: Including the School of Business and Management, Department of Economics, and Department of Law and Criminology.​
  3. Faculty of Science: Comprising departments like Biological Sciences, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology.​
