Illinois Institute of Technology

Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) is a private research university located in Chicago, Illinois. Established in 1890, it was formed through the merger of the Armour Institute and Lewis Institute in 1940. The university offers a wide range of programs in engineering, science, architecture, business, design, human sciences, applied technology, and law. Illinois Tech is classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity" and is known for its strong emphasis on technology and innovation.

The university's Mies Campus, designed by renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is situated less than a mile from Lake Michigan. In 2024, Illinois Tech was ranked #1 in Illinois for best salaries of graduates by the Wall Street Journal, highlighting its strong outcomes for graduates.

Illinois Tech is also expanding its global presence. In 2025, it became the first U.S. university approved to establish a campus in India, with plans to open a campus in Mumbai in fall 2026.
